If you have some time… Featuring pre-Inca stone work and outlines of various temples and areas of worship that have a deep meaning to those who used to visit here. Our group wasn’t not given a lot of time here so we didn’t get to see that much.

Fusión del Templo del Sol Inca y una Iglesia católica. En este sitio arqueológico e histórico de Cusco, puedes ver la historia del encuentro de dos mundos en un solo lugar. Este lugar era el Templo del Sol (Inti). Al llegar los españoles, impusieron su religión construyendo sus iglesias encima. Entonces podemos ver la base del templo Inca y sobre eso una iglesia católica de la época colonial. Puedes ver un pequeño museo subterráneo, con acceso por Av. del Sol. Muestra la historia prehispánica. Tienes acceso con el Ticket general de sitios turísticos de Cusco. Para entrar al templo debes cancelar una entrada aparte pues pertenece a la Iglesia católica (20 soles). Dentro podrás disfrutar de la Historia, colecciones de pintura, parte del templo del Sol que se preserva. Para los amantes de la arquitectura es un lugar muy especial con la fusión de dos culturas, construcción incaica de piedra y arcos de medio punto del barroco. Los tallados son impresionantes. He venido 4 veces y creo que conviene tomar un guía en la entrada. Aunque hay buenos textos junto a los distintos elementos.

Take a guided tour to understand the place The Sun Temple of the Incas showcases their mastery of stonework. Walls that were built to withstand earthquakes all those years ago. ATV’s Through a Landfill If I could give it less than one star, I would. The description of the tour says just enough to not technically be lying to you but everything about it was an absolute scam. First, the tour begins out of the guide’s garage on a trash filled side road - expert tip, if you need to use the bathroom before you begin the excursion, don’t. The “safety” equipment is unable to be individually fit, and they are not even for ATV’s. My own helmet was a horseback riding helmet with no ability to tighten. The “safety” instruction detailed in the description was our guide who spoke very limited English telling us how to break and how to turn left and right. We had three ATVs : one with a singular side mirror, and one with no side mirrors at all. The ATVs come with front and rear breaks - none of the rear breaks in our group worked which we did not know until we began our ride. The tour consists of a drive up a gravel neighborhood street to a roadside attraction still under construction featuring plaster sculptures of Incan faces, more trash, and a big push by our guide to buy VIP tickets to walk through the “exhibit”. After saying no to entering, you’ll make your way through a landfill to take a picture standing on your ATV with mountains barely visible in the background and end with the same ride back down the street to the guide’s garage - all together totaling less than 45 minutes of actual ATV riding. At the end, when you are delivered back to the Plaza where you were picked up at the start of your excursion you may feel like calling the guide a crook for scamming you out of your money to which he will smile and laugh before driving off.

Historic Incan ruins and church This Incan ruin on site of a church is interesting and worth a quick visit in Cuzco. There are guided tours but you don’t really have to have one to understand. The view from the church bell tower is worth the extra 5 soles

Mezcla de dos mundos y estilos distintos El templo de Qorikancha es una fusión entre el estilo constructivo inca y la arquitectura traída por los españoles. Templo. Fue el templo más importante del Imperio Inca, dedicado al dios Sol. Aunque gran parte fue destruido durante la conquista, aún se conservan los muros de piedra sobre los que se construyó el convento de Santo Domingo. No está incluido en el boleto turístico, pero merece la pena. No perderse después el museo, ubicado en un edificio cercano.

Incredible historical site A must-see historical site in Cusco. It's worth seeing for both the incredible Incan architecture of this religious site and for the Spanish cathedral built atop it. This site displays both eras of its history, and it really highlights how amazing Incan stoneworking was in comparison to the Spanish construction. It's existence tells a story of how the Conquistadors tried to bury Incan heritage, and the restoration work to bring it back. My friend and I went both on our own and as part of a tour gripe, and I'm glad we did both. It's a great place to explore on your own, and definitely worth the extra few soles to visit the belltower. There's an abbreviated guide online in English, but you miss a lot of the history without a tour guide.
